According to the official measurement by the China Earthquake Networks Center, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake occurred at 13:17 on May 29, 2025, in Yuancheng District, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province (23.71°N, 114.69°E). The focal depth was 11 kilometers.

Following the earthquake, relevant departments in Heyuan City, including emergency management, seismology, and fire services, promptly activated emergency response mechanisms to conduct seismic investigations and verify disaster conditions. Preliminary assessments indicate that residents near the epicenter experienced noticeable tremors. No reports of casualties or significant property damage have been received thus far.
According to experts, this earthquake was a shallow-focus quake with its epicenter located near a relatively densely populated urban area. However, its magnitude was relatively small, resulting in limited damage.
