According to CCTV News, an accident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. on August 21 at the Sihé Coal Mine in Shilin Town, Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, while sealing the ventilation shaft. Preliminary investigations indicate that eight people were trapped.

As of 2:00 PM, after intensive search and rescue efforts, seven individuals have been found deceased. Rescue operations are still underway to locate and rescue one additional trapped person.

According to the Xiaoxiang Morning Post, at noon on the 21st, staff from the Shilin Town government stated they had received notification of the incident that morning. "We are currently handling matters at the rear base and are unaware of the specifics of what occurred at the front. We will need to wait for further updates to learn more."

Staff from the Wutongqiao District Emergency Management Bureau stated that a relevant notice will be issued in due course.
