On September 24, a toxic gas poisoning incident occurred in Yanqiao Village, Guolemude Town, Golmud City, Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, resulting in casualties among 7 individuals from 2 households. The incident originated from an oil mill and a wellness center, where toxic gases leaked through residential sewage pipes. Six individuals died despite rescue efforts, while one person recovered after receiving medical treatment.

It is reported that on the day of the incident, Mr. Bai's maternal grandfather collapsed at home and recovered after being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, Mr. Bai's aunt, maternal grandmother, eldest aunt, and her daughter all succumbed to poisoning and passed away while attempting to rescue him. Mr. Bai stated that the bathroom and kitchen on the first floor of the incident location emitted a pungent odor—a mixture of foul smells resembling rotting matter and rotten eggs.

Authorities have cordoned off the affected area, evacuated and relocated nearby residents, and are investigating the cause of the incident. Environmental monitoring in the affected zone indicates that the living environment remains safe.
