Over 600 personnel participate in firefighting efforts for the mountain fire in Zhaoqing, Guangdong
On January 16, a wildfire broke out near Xiangang Town in Gaoyao District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. The blaze was significant in scale, with visible flames burning in the surrounding thickets and producing thick smoke. Firefighting authorities swiftly responded, deploying helicopters and specialized teams to combat the fire. Through concerted efforts, the flames were extinguished by the evening of the 16th, with the burned area estimated at approximately 25 mu (about 4.2 acres). The fire caused no casualties or damage to critical infrastructure.

On the same day, a wildfire also broke out near the Longyankeng Reservoir in Zaiwu Town, Heshan City, Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. Following emergency response efforts by the National Fire and Rescue Team, the Guangdong Forest Firefighting Mobile Unit, and over 600 rescue personnel, the fire was brought under control around 9:30 p.m. that evening.
According to an analysis by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Emergency Management, most areas in Guangdong Province face a high forest fire risk this week, with some regions experiencing an extremely high risk. Currently, both Zhaoqing City and Heshan City are classified as high-risk fire zones, presenting a severe forest fire prevention situation. Relevant departments have strengthened emergency response measures and fire source management.
