Rescue Operation Following Landslide in Muai Town, Junlian County, Sichuan: Two Individuals Saved, N
According to news reports, a landslide occurred in Group 2 of Jinping Village, Muai Town, Junlian County, Sichuan Province (local name: Gaojiaping) at approximately 11:50 a.m. on February 8. The incident resulted in several houses being buried under earth and debris, with some individuals trapped. Following the event, the Junlian County Emergency Management Bureau promptly activated its contingency plan and issued a public warning.
It is reported that relevant higher authorities and the Junlian County Party Committee and County Government have attached great importance to this incident. An emergency rescue command center was immediately established to coordinate and mobilize rescue forces to rush to the scene and conduct search and rescue operations. After intense and orderly rescue efforts, two trapped individuals have been successfully rescued from the site. Preliminary examinations indicate that neither is in life-threatening condition.

At the scene of the incident, thick smoke and billowing mud and rocks have drawn widespread attention from all sectors of society. The county emergency management department stated that following the incident, rescue personnel at the scene conducted a step-by-step search of the trapped areas using specialized equipment and personnel while ensuring their own safety. They also carried out emergency reinforcement of damaged buildings. Rescue operations are currently proceeding in an orderly manner. Relevant departments will continue to monitor the situation on-site to ensure the timely rescue of any remaining trapped individuals, while also taking precautions against potential secondary disasters.
Following the incident, the Junlian County government promptly issued safety advisories across the county and intensified monitoring of the mountainous geological environment.
