On the morning of May 8, the Yueyang Meteorological Observatory in Hunan Province issued multiple weather warnings as a severe storm rapidly approached the city's outskirts. Residents captured the entire course of this intense convective weather event through their home surveillance cameras.

Yueyang Meteorological Observatory issued an Orange Rainstorm Warning Signal at 7:57 AM on May 8, 2025. Junshan District, and the Economic Development Zone will receive over 60 millimeters of rainfall between 7:00 and 10:00 AM, with peak hourly rainfall intensity reaching 41 millimeters. This will be accompanied by severe convective weather including thunderstorms and strong winds, posing a high risk of disasters. Residents are advised to take precautions.
At 8:12 a.m., the warning was further upgraded to a red alert for heavy rain. Forecasts indicate that Yunxi District will receive over 100 millimeters of rainfall between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., with peak hourly rainfall intensity reaching 34 millimeters. This will be accompanied by severe convective weather including thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning. Relevant areas are advised to prepare emergency response measures.
At 8:22 a.m., Yueyang County issued a red alert for thunderstorms and strong winds, forecasting gusts exceeding force 12 over the next two hours, accompanied by intense lightning and heavy rainfall. The risk of severe weather is extremely high. Immediate protective measures are advised.

At the same time, Linxiang City's heavy rain warning was also upgraded to red, with forecasts indicatingrainfall exceeding 100 millimeters between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, accompanied by hourly rainfall intensity of up to 39 millimeters and severe convective weather. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution and evacuate to safe areas immediately.
At 8:43 a.m., Yueyang County and Pingjiang County issued orange hail warnings, forecasting hail exceeding 5 millimeters in diameter within the next two hours, accompanied by short-term heavy rainfall and thunderstorm winds. This has increased the complexity and danger of the operational environment.
