On the morning of May 18, 2024, a serious traffic accident occurred in Dalongtan Village, Majie Town, Luliang County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province. A loader traveling downhill reportedly experienced brake failure, careened into a local market, and collided with people buying and selling vegetables, resulting in severe casualties.

According to news reports, as of 4:00 p.m. that daythe accident had resulted in 6 deaths and 4 injuries. Among the injured, one sustained serious injuries but remains in stable condition, while the other three suffered minor injuries and are not in life-threatening condition.

Local villagers reported that the affected road section serves as a temporary market every morning, attracting dense crowds. The accident occurred during peak foot traffic, with most victims beingvillagers over 50 years old engaged in daily market transactions.

Several families of the deceased have confirmed that their relatives were tragically killed, revealing that some victims were elderly individuals over fifty years old. At present, relevant authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, and the telephone line of the Majie Town government remains unanswered.

The specific cause of the accident is still under investigation.
