In recent years, driven by rising prices of power equipment materials and profit motives, criminal activities targeting power facilities have become rampant. Criminals have escalated their operations from stealing wires and cables to targeting large-scale power equipment such as cable terminal yards. Their methods have also evolved from rudimentary to increasingly sophisticated, professional, and covert. To prevent theft and sabotage of power facilities, utility companies have spared no effort in implementing countermeasures. Consequently, our company has developed a cable terminal tower video surveillance system that effectively addresses security issues such as theft and electric shock at cable terminal yards, ensuring the stable operation of the power grid.

II. Working Principle

When video surveillance cameras are installed at cable terminal towers (stations), they capture images and footage of line corridors, cable conduits, towers, terminal joints, and other areas. This data is transmitted via wireless 4G/5G networks to the monitoring center platform. This enables remote online monitoring and alerts for potential safety hazards, such as theft in cable trenches or construction activities near cable conduits. Video data is transmitted in real-time to the monitoring center. Duty personnel can immediately initiate video review, maneuver the PTZ camera to focus on the alert location for verification, and observe real-time conditions at each monitoring point via the video client. Maintenance personnel analyze and compare data such as videos and images transmitted from the site. Upon detecting abnormal warning information, they promptly initiate corresponding emergency response measures to ensure the safe operation of the cable terminal yard.

III. Features and Functions

1. Capable of uploading alarm information and triggering alerts when moving objects such as personnel or vehicles move within the recognition area, remain stationary beyond the timeout period, or exceed the preset height.

2. Features multiple operating modes including sleep, standby, timed photography, real-time video, and 24/7 continuous operation to accommodate diverse operational requirements.

3. The device can automatically take photos at preset intervals according to the scheduled timetable and upload them. In abnormal situations, the capture interval can be encrypted.

4. The camera power can be turned on/off via the monitoring center platform's backend. Remote configuration and control of camera parameters such as focal length, aperture, depth of field, image quality, PTZ orientation, and preset positions are also supported.

5. The device should be capable of collecting information such as power supply voltage and mobile communication signal strength at the installation point, with a minimum data collection interval of 1 minute.

6. Supports automatic line inspection functionality, enabling the device to automatically patrol along the conductor direction, detect suspended objects, and generate corresponding inspection videos.

7. Supports scene recognition. When manually adjusting the video frame to capture scene changes, automatically overlays OSD displays such as "XX Tower Phase C Insulator."

8. The device should support automatic photo capture when no personnel are operating it.

9. Capable of monitoring tower inclination by reading tilt sensor data or through image recognition. When tower inclination exceeds the preset threshold, it can report alarm information and trigger an alarm.

10. Capable of monitoring and reporting battery charge level, battery voltage, charging current, load current, operating temperature, and power supply status;

11. Equipped with self-diagnostic and fault-diagnosis capabilities, and capable of uploading diagnostic information;

12. The equipment features front-end recognition capabilities, enabling autonomous identification of on-site threats to power line safety through pre-set video images without backend communication. Examples include: newly constructed buildings near power lines, excessive tree growth, heavy machinery entering the site, terrain changes near tower foundations, individuals engaging in theft or deliberate damage to power facilities near towers, damaged fittings on tower accessories, or foreign objects hanging on the lines. Specifically, when abnormal persons or objects move within the recognition area, linger beyond the preset time limit, or exceed the preset height, the device can directly upload alarm information for notification after front-end identification.
